How organized is your vital information? Moreover, WHERE are your critical documents? If you’re like many of our clients at Island Organizers, you keep saying that you need to get them organized so that if “something” happens to you, loved ones will know where to find the information.

Don’t Be Like Joe
A client came to us recently, desperate for help. His father, Joe (name changed for privacy), kept putting off his trip to the attorney’s office in order to sign his Last Will and Testament and unfortunately, he never made it in time. Joe left our client, his brother and the rest of the family: a business without a leader, a house with a mortgage, several valuable cars and other assets without designated owners/heirs. Now, the estate is in probate and our client is left wondering who will run his dad’s business and who will pay the mortgage.

Gather and Scan Documents
Our client immediately gathered up his documents and then asked us to help him set up a system for his own information so that he could be sure that the mess his dad left behind would NOT be what he would leave for his own wife and son. At our appointment with him and his wife, we installed a ScanSnap iX500 and along with the easy-to-use ScanSnap software, helped him to scan his will, trusts, appraisals, identification, mortgage documents and other important records into an app, SafelyFiled.com. It is a highly secure storage system for vital records and critical information. Then, we showed them how to grant access to the system to securely share the documents with each other and the other VIPs in their lives, in case anything ever happened to them.

Peace of Mind
Here’s what our client said when we left the appointment, “I am grateful for the peace of mind, knowing that my family is not going to have to endure what I and my brother are going through right now with my dad’s estate. My ScanSnap scanner has made it simple for me to not only organize my important information, but it’ll be easy for me and my wife to keep our information updated because it is so simple to use – even after you’re gone!”
