As the parent of a child with a disability, the ScanSnap allows me to scan and organize the mountains of paperwork I get related to his challenges – including medical records, consultant’s notes, education records and therapy records. After I scan the records, I can easily email them to our “team members” including our speech and language pathologist, occupational therapist, aide, teacher, and play therapist.  I feel comforted knowing that our team has an electronic record of the latest information about my son conveniently stored on their computer. This allows them to modify their treatment plan in a timely manner based on the results of his most recent evaluations and related data.

Using ScanSnap for records management has also freed up a significant amount of time for me. Prior to its use, I had to print and collate extensive amounts of paperwork to distribute to our team. This was time consuming, costly and an ineffective way of delivering important information in a timely manner. In addition, it is now easy for me to locate records on my computer rather than search through stacks of paperwork on my desk, in binders or in a filing cabinet.

As someone who gets easily frustrated by electronic devices that are not simple to use, I greatly appreciate how simple it is to use ScanSnap. I truly enjoy watching this scanner work – I simply put a stack of papers in the feeder and stand back as it automatically scans each page and detects if the document is double sided, thus scanning both sides. The software allows you to quickly set up a virtual filing cabinet to organize the storage of documents and allows manipulation of the scanned pages for even more control over the final document.

Another benefit of ScanSnap is the ability to store a scanned document in multiple file folders.  This allows me to make sure I have the documents organized exactly the way I need them for easy reference.

I told all of my friends with special needs kids as well as our therapists and educators about ScanSnap as it really changed my life and brought me peace of mind. Best of all, I don’t have to worry anymore about copying, collating and distributing hard copies to everyone and we all have instant access to important information. It’s great to go paperless, save money and save a tree!
