I love daylight savings time! It signals the beginning of spring with a glimmer of summer out there on the horizon. I start to sense its arrival when I wake each morning and it is just a little bit lighter than it was the day before and the evenings seem to linger just a little more.

The best part of daylight savings time is when you get home from work and it is still light enough out to go for an evening stroll or water the plants. The evening no longer feels like a time when you need to hunker down on the couch in front the TV with some comfort food. Now you can get out in the fresh air and explore your world.

If you’re looking for some fun things to do with those additional hours of sunshine, we invite you to spend some time putting thought into organizing your outdoor life. Here are some suggestions…

• Explore a local farmers market
• Get your garden ready for summer
• Take a nice long walk & watch Spring emerge
Play catch with your kids
• Move your meal outside

Of course, I do live in California so I understand that these outdoor activities are possible for us now while in other regions of the country a new garden may still be a couple weeks away. I am just excited to take advantage of the extended hours of sunshine. I am so glad I spent some time over the winter getting my indoor life organized so I won’t be spending these additional hours of daylight stuck inside sorting through all the “paper stuff” life brings.

I hope you enjoy the daylight!

Daylight Savings Time (United States) began on Sunday, March 11, 2012, 2:00am, and ends on Sunday, November 4, 2012, 2:00am.
