I’m convinced that everyone is born with a special gift or talent. I had a friend who was fluent in 7 languages. The ability to learn a new language just came easy to her. I have other friends who are musically gifted or can pick up a pencil and sketch just about anything. Some of my friends are crafty and others are brainy.

Me? I’ve always said that I was born organized. Even as a child, I liked my stuffed animals lined up and crayons put away, just as they were, in their original box. My organizational ability has served me well during my 35 years in the real estate business, where I was once known as the “binder queen”. Using binders and file cabinets, I always took pride in becoming a great real estate resource for my clients.

About 4 years ago, I moved from a traditional office to a home office along with 8 legal sized filing cabinets that held hundreds and hundreds of client files and resources. Space limitations suggested that it was time to go paperless and on the recommendation of others in the real estate industry, I purchased the ScanSnap S1500. I began the process of cleaning out, scanning and then shredding files one by one. My need to stay organized with file cabinets and binders was quickly satisfied with my computer’s new digital file cabinet. Today, if a client needs paperwork from a closing that took place years ago, I can find the information quickly and attach it to an email. It happens quite often and the ScanSnap makes me a hero! And ScanSnap is a perfect partner for my other favorite real estate tools like Evernote and DropBox.

I’ve often said that I would give up my dishwasher before my ScanSnap. I mean it! I can’t imagine running a successful real estate business without it.
