Caution: Read only if you have kids!
I know that we have covered this topic before but sometimes things don’t really sink in until they are more relevant to you. Now as a father of a four year old, scanning and preserving memories has become more top of mind. I have scanned notes from preschool and some of my daughter’s artwork using the carrier sheet to protect her masterpieces as well as the scanner. I have also been scanning her medical records into a password protected PDF with a profile set up on my ScanSnap. While those aren’t really “memories” per se it is information that I want to preserve.
My recent project has been greeting cards. May is a busy month in our house; we have two birthdays and an anniversary so we have a mantle overflowing with cards. I am very pleased to be able to preserve the cards that my daughter gets from all of her cousins. Specifically as my parents get older I am grateful to be able to capture the sentiments that they send to her so that I can show them to her later in life and keep alive the memories she has of her grandparents.
