Presto! PageManager 9 for Mac is an easy to use, front-end page client that provides for all your documents. Capabilities include Capture, Preview, Convert and Deliver all your paper and electronic documents to a designated location. You simply drag-&-drop to stack or merge files, or use the embedded OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature to convert them to a searchable PDF.

The following steps show you how to configure your ScanSnap to scan documents and images into Presto! PageManager 9. Once you have installed the ScanSnap software you will need to do the following steps to add the application to the profile of the ScanSnap.

(1) Connect your ScanSnap scanner and then click on the ScanSnap Manager icon from the Dock.  (Note: If your ScanSnap Manager does not appear in the Dock, normally you can find it from the Applications folder.)

(2) Right click (or click + Control) on the ScanSnap icon and select the Settings option. The Profile and Profile Management options will be greyed out (by defualt when the Use Quick Menu is enabled, you won’t be able to use the Profile).

(3) Selecting Settings will bring up the ScanSnap Manager. The default is “Use Quick Menu”.

(4) Uncheck the Use Quick Menu. [This will allow you to add applications that are not part of SnapScan software package to the profile. When the Use Quick Menu option is checked (enabled), the Application tab will be greyed out. Once the Use Quick Menu option is unchecked (disabled), the additional applications can be added to the profile.] Click on the Add or Remove button from the Application tab.

(5) The Add or remove application dialog window will come up after you click Add or Remove button. Click on the Add button to add PageManager 9 application.

(6) Browse to the location where your PageManager 9 is located on your hard drive and then navigate to your applications. (Normally PageManager 9 can be found in Applications folder.) In the same dialog window you will also type in PageManager 9 to the Application Name field. Click the OK button to continue.

(7) Now you have successfully added PageManager 9. Click the Close button from the Add or remove application dialog windows continue.

(8) Click on the Application tab and select PageManager 9 application that you’ve just added from the list (a). Also, remember to add PageManager 9 to the Profile (b), and then select PageManager 9 from it (c).

a. Select PageManager 9 from the Application list.

b. Add PageManager 9 to the Profile.

c. Select PageManager 9 from the Profile.

(9) Go to the Save tab and select your designation folder where you want the scanned documents to be stored. Here as an example, you may set up the folder as My PageManager folder, and so this is the folder the PageManager will open next time you scan.

(10) Complete the other settings, such as Scanning (color or black and white document), File Option (document type as JPEG or PDF), Paper and Compression settings. Remember to click the Apply button to confirm all the settings you made before exit out ScanSnap Manager.

(11) Go to the Dock, click on the ScanSnap Manager icon and then select PageManager 9 from the Profile list. Now you are ready to work with Presto! PageManager. Next time when you press ScanSnap scan button with Presto! PageManager selected, all documents will be scanned to your designated folder with PageManager launched.

Special Reminders:

• All images or documents that are scanned into PageManager will be sent to the directory that is set in the ScanSnap Manager software. This directory can be changed by clicking on the Browse button and selecting an alternative directory on the Save tab (see step #9).

• In order to scan into an application that is not part of the standard ScanSnap options, you will need to uncheck “Use Quick Menu” and add the application to the Profile. Once an application has been added to the Profile, left click on the ScanSnap icon from the Dock and select the application that you want to scan to.

• Pressing the green button on the ScanSnap scanner will automatically send the scanned image or document to the active profile that is selected. (Example above is PageManager 9). Left clicking on the SnapScan icon and selecting another application will allow you to change the active profile.

• PageManager scan and its Scan Button control settings are designed for TWAIN compliant scanners, which ScanSnap is not. Therefore, the ScanSnap scan action cannot be initiated by TWAIN oriented applications.
