Congratulations on buying a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 scanner! With your new scanner, you may have questions about all that you can do with your new Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard.  That’s what I’m here for… to help you navigate through all of the new features that can help you be more productive.

New to Acrobat 9 is an amazing OCR (optical character recognition) capability called ClearScan. With this new feature, you will get compressed PDF scans that are searchable and take up less space on your hard drive, without compromising the quality of the images.  If you choose to, you can then use Acrobat 9 to help secure those PDF documents using 256-bit AES password encryption capabilities, or archive them as ISO-compliant PDF/A files.

Do you typically attach a bunch of different files, such as scans and documents created with Microsoft Office, to an email message and send it on its way? With PDF Portfolios, you can collect all those different documents – and not just PDF files – into a single, organized PDF Portfolio, that’s easier to navigate.

We all collaborate using documents, and typically that means trying to get feedback from others. With Acrobat 9 Shared Reviews, and integration with Acrobat.com (a set of free hosted services from Adobe), you can share files, as well as initiate and track a document review process. Others can then add their comments and markup, and submit those back to you electronically.

And speaking of collecting information from others, Acrobat 9 Standard now allows you create and collect fillable PDF forms (beginning with your existing paper forms if you wish) that can then be distributed and digitally signed and submitted back by anyone who has the free Adobe Reader.

If you would like to learn more about Adobe Acrobat 9, including the additional capabilities of Acrobat 9 Pro and Pro Extended, visit www.adobe.com/acrobat, www.acrobatusers.com or check out the Acrobat channels at tv.adobe.com.

Have fun getting rid of all that paper!
