Can I use my ScanSnap to scan photos?
Yes, the ScanSnap scanners sure can scan photos, though they’re not designed to take the place of professional quality photo scanners, which are typically flatbed and have the ability to scan at very high resolutions. Important to note, however, that the ScanSnap can scan up to 600 dpi and produce exceptional images thanks to our advanced CCD capture device.
By making a few simple adjustments in the ScanSnap manager, you can easily scan your existing hard copy photos into jpeg files (see the article titled “How can I scan to Jpeg with my ScanSnap” in the tips and tricks section), but first, make sure to use the carrier sheet (included with the S510 and S1500 models) to protect delicate and valued photos as they pass thru the ADF.
So, why would you want to use the ScanSnap to scan your photos over another scanner? With ScanSnap you have the ability to scan large batches of photos rapidly, while also being able to choose various photo sizes in a single batch. Not to mention, the versatility of the ScanSnap is one of its many strengths. The ability to efficiently digitize a wide range of documents from an everyday business card to a cherished family photo has proven to be invaluable tool, for both professional and personal use.
