How to Password Protect Previously Scanned Documents within ScanSnap Organizer
If you’ve ever wondered if there was a feature available within ScanSnap Organizer that would allow you to password protect your scanned documents then look no further! We have a step-by-step guide on how to make that happen – check it out below:
- Double click to open document
- Click properties
- Click Security tab
- Change Document open password to YES
- Enter password and confirm
- Close document
- Dialog box appears, “The file has been modified. Save anyway?” Click Yes

Same steps would apply if they wanted to create a password on a PDF document, scanned but not necessarily in Organizer. Only works if document has not been encrypted/signed.
- Open PDF
- Click Properties
- Go to Security tab
- Securtiy Method field, change to ‘Password Security’
- Password Security Window will pop up
- Then check the ‘Require a password to open the document’
- Enter a password
- Click OK

It’s as easy as that!
