How to scan into Google Picasa

ScanSnap scanners do an amazing job converting paper documents into digital copies. Did you know that you can also scan your photos with your ScanSnap? Although ScanSnap scanners are not designed for photos, ScanSnap can scan up to 600 dpi and produce exceptional images. Here is a quick guide on how you can quickly scan your photos into Google Picasa.

Step 1:  Create a new Profile in ScanSnap Manager

  • Double-click on the ScanSnap icon in the task tray

  • De-select Quick Menu. (Quick menu will not have a check mark next to it when it is disabled.)
  • In the profile dropdown menu select [Add Profile…]

  • Enter in a Name for your new profile (example: Picasa)

  • Click [OK].

Step 2:  Add a new Program to your new Profile

  • On the Application tab, click [Add or Remove…]

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • In the Add and Remove Application dialog click [Add…]
  • The Application Settings dialog will appear click [Browse…]
  • Browse and locate the Picasa exe file (example: C:\Program Files\Google/Picasa)
  • Click [Open]

  • In the Application Settings dialog name the application and click [OK] (example: Picasa)
  • Close the Add and Remove Application dialog
  • On the Application tab, use the drop down arrow and choose the Picasa application and click [Apply]

  • On the Scanning tab change the Color mode to Color
  • Note: You can also change the image resolution by choosing the Image quality (up to 600 dpi)

  • Click [Apply]
  • On the File option tab change the File format to JPG

  • Click [Apply] to save your new profile
  • Close the ScanSnap Manager

Step 3:  Select the new Profile and Scan

  • Now that you have created your Picasa profile, you can quickly select it by left-clicking once on the ScanSnap Manager icon in the tray and choosing the Picasa profile

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Load your pictures in the scanner
  • Press the scan button
  • After all your pictures have been scanned Picasa will Launch and your pictures will appear

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now that your pictures are scanned into Picasa, you can easily share your images and even post them to your Google+ account.
