Get the Basics on Business Card Scanning – Part II
We recently shared basic tips for business card scanning with CardMinder business card software and ScanSnap to help you more efficiently manage your business contacts. That was just the beginning. Here are some more advanced tricks, including how to show different viewing options, use CardMinder with a USB drive for a “mobile” CardMinder solution and add an attachment to an existing contact.
Viewing Options: For different viewing options of your scanned cards, click the “View” tab to display the “Card Image” choices. From here you can change how the scanned business card is viewed, such as front only, back only or both side-by-side. You can also adjust the card to fit your computer screen by choosing “Fit to Area,” “Fit to Width” or “Fit to Height.”
Mobile Linkage: What if you don’t want to carry your computer, but you want to take all of your CardMinder contacts with you on the go? That’s where a tool called “Mobile linkage” comes into play. This lets you put CardMinder contacts onto a USB drive with a viewer that will allow viewing contacts on any PC. Click on the “Mobile linkage” button under the “Home” tab.
From here you can decide whether to transfer some or all of the contacts to a USB drive. You can also password protect the contacts in case you lose the USB or it gets stolen.
Once you’re satisfied with the settings, click “Transfer” and the CardMinder data is transferred to the USB and your mobile CardMinder “rolodex” is created.
Plug the USB into any PC and the below screen appears. Click on the “BzCardViewer” application on the USB drive.
Now you can search your CardMinder contacts and view the data on any PC. Here’s what the business card looks like in CardMinder Mobile Viewer.
Attachments: Another great feature of CardMinder is the ability to attach documents to a specific contact. If you have a document that is associated with a specific contact and want to ensure that document is linked to that contact, click on the “Add” button under the “Data Editing” tab. Add the desired attachment and you now have access to the documents associated with a contact from CardMinder without having to search for them.
With these more advanced tips for business card scanning with CardMinder and ScanSnap, you’ll be even more efficient with managing your business contacts.
