Does ScanSnap create multi-page PDFs or single page PDFs?
The Fujitsu ScanSnap creates both single and multi-page PDFs. As a matter of fact, you can control exactly what you want to do by setting your ScanSnap to do single page PDFs, multiple page PDFs or set it up to create multiple page PDFs for every X number of documents you scan.
There are a few simple things you need to do to get things set up. Let’s start by setting the ScanSnap to create single page PDFs. First, if you look at you task bar (the area that has your clock) you will see all of your applications currently running. In that section, you will find a little blue S, it may have a red line thru it if the ScanSnap is not active. Place your mouse cursor on the S and right click. A small menu should pop up with various options, left click on “Scan Button Settings,” this will open your ScanSnap Manager.
The Manager is where you can make all sorts of changes to your ScanSnap, but for now we are focused on single page PDFs. You should see a line of tabs, i.e. Application, Save, Scanning, File Option, etc. Click on the ‘File Option’ tab. Two-thirds of the way from the top and on the right side you will see a button called ‘Option’ – click on that button.
This will open a new window called, “PDF file format option”. By default, the ScanSnap is set to create multiple page PDFs. For example, if you put 10 pages into your ScanSnap and push scan, you will create a 10 page single PDF. However, if you click ‘Generate one PDF file per X,’ the ScanSnap will create one PDF for the number you choose.
So, if you want to create one PDF per page you scan, leave the number at one. For example, with the ‘Generate one file per…’ chosen and set to one, if you put 10 pages into your ScanSnap and push scan, your ScanSnap will scan all of the pages and instead of creating one 10 page PDF, it will create 10 one pages PDFs. Likewise, if you choose a different number, say 5, the ScanSnap will create a new PDF for every five pages scanned. If you put 50 pages in your ScanSnap and push scan, it will create 10 five page PDFs, and so on.
Play around with it and let us know if you have any questions!
